How To Entertain Your Kids During A Massage

Updated: Jul 6, 2022

Trying to relax during your massage session, while your kids are crying in the next room can be almost impossible. We have created a list of ways you can entertain your kids while getting your massage, so that you’re able to reap the benefits of the massage without having to worry about your kids causing too much added stress to the treatment.

1. Have a specific colouring book or movie designated for your massages

Having special colouring books or movies set aside for special occasions such as when you are getting a massage, or when you are at dinner is a great way to entertain your children without them realizing they are being persuaded to settle down for a little while.

2. Play-Doh

Play-doh is every parent's favourite toy and worst nightmare all wrapped up in one. Constantly finding it in places that you have absolutely no clue how it could end up there is a mystery no parent will ever solve, but it works magic when it comes to keeping kids busy for upwards of 20 minutes.

3. Listen to an audiobook or podcast

What’s more fun than reading a book? Listening to a book. If you find that your massage appointment lands right around nap time, you can throw on a podcast or audiobook and soothe your child or children to sleep. There may not be pictures, but they can let their imagination do the work for them.

4. Create creatures out of pipe cleaners

Arts and crafts are definitely one of our faves! Pipe cleaners are so fun and kids can create so many different things, you’ll be surprised! Try to get your kids to create their favourite animals out of pipe cleaners, or if it’s close to Christmas, get them to make what’s on their Christmas list.

5. Write letters to family and friends

Not enough people write letters anymore, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t! Encourage your children to think of what they would say to their friends and family members if they saw them, and get them to write letters to those people. Then you can mail off the letters once the massage is over. It’ll keep your little ones busy during your treatment, and it will also put a smile on the face of those who receive the letters.
