Everyone has struggled with sleep at one point or another. Whether it was the inability to fall asleep, or trouble staying asleep. This can be grueling since sleep is an essential part of development depending on what stage in life you are at. Others depend on sleep as some of us depend on coffee. A lack of adequate sleep can set you up for a lousy day, which can lead to an even worse day for those around you (ever heard of kick the cat syndrome?). Lucky for us, massage therapy actually helps improve people’s quality of sleep. You read that right, you can actually sleep better, just by getting a couple of massage sessions– crazy right?

Tranquility

Possibly every busy parent's favorite part, the tranquil and peacefulness of the environment that comes along with your message. At Mobile Massage, we pride ourselves on being able to create that same feeling in your very own home (proving you don’t need to pay spa prices for therapeutic services). Sometimes all we need is just a little peace and quiet from the busy hustle and bustle to get us relaxed and ready for a good night’s rest.

The addition of aromatherapy, otherwise known as essential oils, to massage services can be an excellent way to further heighten your experience. Whether you opt for lavender or lemongrass, just know you will be transported to a more serene and harmonious place, ready for relaxation and the ultimate sleep post-treatment.

Decrease Stress

Research proves that massage therapy is helpful in decreasing cortisol, which is a hormone released when we are under prolonged stress. This stress hormone negatively impacts our sleep, and not to mention other health side-effects such as headaches, body aches, digestive issues and more. More than half of the population is under some sort of stress every day, whether it be work, school, family or alternatively caused– and massage is a great way to decrease this common prognosis without turning to prescription medications or just suffering through it.

Increase Sleep Hormones

Just as massage treatments are able to decrease the brain's receptors for the stress hormone, cortisol, they are able to increase the amount of serotonin and dopamine hormones we receive. These two hormones are responsible for regulating our mood and help promote a more restful sleep throughout the night. If you suffer from any sleep-related disturbances, such as insomnia, this is helpful because it can promote a deeper, more restful sleep at night.

Relief of Pain and Inflammation

Massage therapy is helpful in decreasing overall pain and inflammation caused by chronic and acute pain. If this is the cause of your sleep disturbances, then rest assured, your therapist will help ease all tender areas and promote blood flow and create a game plan with you for how to target your individual needs. We do recommend speaking with your medical practitioner before seeking out massage therapy as a treatment if you are critically injured, as it may require a more serious medical intervention. However, once the time comes our massage therapists will be more than ready to assess your injuries and lifestyle and create a realistic timeline and goals with you.
