Teachers: Taking Advantage Of Your Time Off

As the holidays approach and classrooms across the country begin to watch Christmas movies, we wanted to take this opportunity to shine a light on why teachers should be taking advantage of their time off during the holiday break. Whether that means spending more time with family and friends, visiting the spa, or having a Mobile Massage therapist visit your home once or twice over the break.

Spending time with family and friends

The best memories are the ones that we create with our loved ones. The time you spend with your family and friends is so important and time that you won’t be able to get back, so it’s crucial that you take advantage of it now. Spending time enjoying the holiday festivities, enjoying the cold weather and the company of your family and friends—who you may not get to see normally—is a great way to celebrate this time of the year. Plus, seeing family and friends can also be a positive mood booster and a way to get you out of any slump you could be falling into by marking papers or grading tests.

Spending time with yourself

There is no shame in spending time and money on yourself, especially after months of hard work. Treating yourself to a massage, day at the spa, or new hairstyle can feel so good and be a major mood booster. Little things like this can be exactly what your mind needs to balance your mood and maintain a positive mindset towards your job and lifestyle; otherwise, if you are too focused on dreading your job or how much work you have to do when your break is over, you may end up resenting your job.

Some ways you relieve stress and tension from the school year during your break are:

  • Getting a massage - either in the comfort of your own home, by one of our professionally trained Mobile Massage therapists, or at a spa

  • Getting a new haircut or style

  • Trying a new activity - ice skating, skiing or snowboarding, tobogganing or sledding

  • Going on a trip - head to the Rocky Mountains for a snowy retreat or to Hawaii for a beachy vacation

  • Start a new hobby - yoga, horseback riding, or drawing
